Daniel Harness - New IAS Chairman

My name is Daniel Harness and I am honoured to be the new Chairman of the Industrial Agents Society.

I started my career in Property Agency in 1997, in the residential sector. After a short break travelling in 2005, I returned to the UK and started my new career in the industrial sector in 2006.

I have been an active member of the National Industrial Agents Committee since 2013 and have been responsible for organising the National Awards for the last 5 years which included our biggest event to date in 2022. Alongside the Awards, I have, for the last 2 years, supported our outgoing Chairman, Gordon Reynolds in my capacity as Vice Chairman as we have taken the IAS forward and expanding the offering to our membership.

The Industrial Sector is unique, and it is why so many people want to become part of it. It’s very encouraging that we are starting to see people from different backgrounds join the sector. Whilst our sector is improving in this area, we can and will do more in reaching out to all parts of our society to show them how welcoming and rewarding a career in the industrial and logistics sector can be.

Looking back at the last few months of 2022 and coining a very popular phrase, we are now seeing some significant “head winds” in the market, despite this, occupier demand is remaining steady and we are still seeing positivity in the market.

It is very important that we, as a community of agents, stick together even more in these tricky times, Together we can ride out this blip and come out stronger.

We start 2023 with a new look national committee and we welcome 4 new faces to the fold. A full list of all the National and Regional committee members can be found on the website. I am also delighted to confirm that Josh Pater will be my Vice Chairman during my tenure before he takes over in 2025.

Looking forward to 2023, we have a full calendar of events planned - a save the date note will be going out to the membership in due course
