On Wednesday9th April, members of the East Midlands and West Midlands Industrial AgentsSociety took part in their annual Golf Day, competing for the coveted ‘Golden Tri Cup’.
This is the 4th year of the event with the East and West both winning one each and last year finished a tie. This year however the result was not quite so close… the WestMidlands coming out 5 ½ - ½ victors. It looks like they have been out practising!
The two regions work together across the wider Midlands area and the event gives members and sponsors the opportunity to catch up and build relationships with one another.A big thank you to regular sponsors Logicor and Indurent who supported and played in the day. As well as the golf, the event includes lunch, dinner and drinks and helps to raise money for the societies chosen charities.
The region’s take turn to play at ‘home’ and this year it was the East’s turn to host at Staverton Park near Daventry. 6 pairs matches were played, with 2 additional non playing agents supporting, meaning we had 26 attendees over the day. This year was also the first year that one of the sponsors new warehouse schemes was actually visible from the course – with Logicor Park Daventry looming large from a couple of the tee boxes!
The event was first set up by the respective Chairs of each region, Tom Drake (Drake &Partners) for the East Midlands and John Sambrooks (Garrison Real Estate) for the West Midlands, who have acted as team captains for the last 4 years. With the event now firmly established, Tom and John are passing on this mantle for2026 to Darran Severn (FHP) and Matthew Tilt (Harris Lamb).
Tom Drake confirmed: “Another fantastic day with the sun shining down making the golf even more enjoyable.Thank you again to our sponsors, who have really got behind the event since its inception and have helped to make it such a success. Good luck to Darran who is taking over the captaincy for us next year. I am looking forward to participating without all the organisation!”
John Sambrooks said: “Bringing the 2 regions together has really helped grow relationships and the event is now firmly established in the IAS calendar. Good luck to Matt Tilt in the defence of the trophy in 2026!”
