On Wednesday 6th April members of the East Midlands and West Midlands Industrial Agents Society took part in their inaugural Golf Day at the Forest of Arden Golf Course.
The two regions regularly work together across the wider Midlands region, but this was the first time such an event has been hosted and proved a great success with members and sponsors. The event was kindly sponsored and participated in by developers St Modwen and Logicor.
The two teams proved very evenly matched in their Ryder Cup style format. The result went down to the final group on the course, with the East Midlands team edging out the West Midlands by 3.5 points to 2.5. This means the East Midlands will now hold the ‘Golden Tri Cup’ for the next 12 months.
After an enjoyable afternoon’s golf both teams enjoyed a well-earned drink, prize-giving and dinner followed by a round of heads and tails to raise more funds for the charities.
The new Golden Tri Cup was handed to winning captain Tom Drake and his successful team-mates. Winners of the other prizes were:
Nearest the Pin - Will Shattock (APB)
Longest Drive - Giles Davis (Geo Hallam)
In addition to the golf, the event also raised funds for the West Midlands chosen charities for 2022, who are Autism West Midlands & Alzheimer’s Society. Next year will be hosted by the East Midlands, with money raised for their chosen charities.
After the success of the event and positive feedback received by all those that took part, the regions plan to make this a regular annual fixture and welcome any interest from people that would like to play next time around.
Tom Drake of Drake & Partners (Chairman of the East Midlands IAS) confirmed: “We are delighted that this first event was so successful and has helped to support the chosen charities. As a region we are more spread out than others and we hope this kick starts some regular events, bringing the East Midlands branch together more often. We plan to build on this with another event later in the summer for our members”.
John Sambrooks of Gerald Eve (Chairman of theWest Midlands IAS) said: Despite the result, the day was a fantastic opportunity to bring the 2 regions together in a hotly contested (certainly not the weather) match and we look forward to our re-match away next year. We hope this is the first of many joint events that will bring the wider midlands membership and clients together.
