The Industrial Agents Society’s chosen charity for 2023 was Young Lives vs Cancer who provide emotional, practical and financial support to young people with cancer, and their families.
Last year, Young Lives vs Cancer supported over 7,000 children and young people who have cancer in the UK, and their families. They also organised for 480 families to stay in their eleven Homes from Home across the UK so that they could be together during the toughest times and also gave out over 6000 grants totalling £1million to help families cope with increased costs that come with cancer.
The support is provided by teams of amazing Young Lives vs Cancer social workers, who are experts in helping families handle the day-to-day challenges that come with a child’s cancer diagnosis. The charity works closely with doctors, nurses and other NHS professionals as an integral part of the team caring for children with cancer. Young Lives vs Cancer Social Workers are different to other social workers; they are there to help because of a child’s cancer, and to make sure families get the support they need throughout treatment.
Kim Mangleshot, Fundraising Engagement Manager at Young Lives vs Cancer, said “the support shown by the IAS has been amazing during 2023 and we are so very grateful for their incredible donation of £20,000. We couldn’t do this without your support - it makes a big difference”.
Dan Harness, Chair of the IAS said, “The society was delighted to support Young Lives vs Cancer in 2023 and the incredible work they do for children and young people who have cancer. I would urge all IAS members to watch the video in the following link that talks about the charities "Homes from Home" https://vimeo.com/896150491/0b264bb135 - we would like to wish Young Lives vs Cancer continued success in the future"
